City of
Union Leaf CollectionService begins
in October, the day after Columbus Day, and thereafter runs Mondays
through mid- to late-November. In inclement weather, crews may
skip days, but they will go back to pick up the rest of the leaves
on a route when the weather improves. Here are a few tips:
1. Leaves need
to be raked in elongated rows onto the street in front of the
curb.
2. Rows must
not exceed 4 feet in height or 6 feet in width.
3. Please remove
objects such as rocks or tree limbs from leaf piles.
4. Once leaves
are raked to the street, children should not play in them.
5. Please remove
vehicles from the street during collection time. The leaf loader
is unable to maneuver in small areas. If a vehicle is in the
way, leaves will not be picked up there.
6. If you miss
a pickup, please wait until next week's pickup: don't call the
City for a special leaf pickup because it is cost-prohibitive
to the program.
7. Residents
who prefer to bag their leaves need to place them in special
yard-waste bags that may be purchased at the Union Municipal
Building for $1.50 per bag. Place the bags by your trash cans
on trash collection day.
