3. Open Agenda
Mayor Goudy said the city was doing a great job with the leaf pick up program. Mr. Applegate said that the city had been able to go through town three times in one of the weeks that traditionally has the most leaves out to be collected. Mr. Applegate added that the leaf pick up machine that they had purchased last year was picking up the leaves very quickly. He said that people were not seeing all the piles of leaves out because they were getting them picked up much faster than previous years.
Mr. Applegate said they would like to be finished with the leaves this week but they would probably extend the program and pick up leaves the first week of December.
Mrs. Perkins wanted to congratulate Union resident Christine Dull, associated with the International Peace Museum, who was chosen as one of the “Top Ten Women” of the year.
Mr. Blackwell wished everyone a nice Thanksgiving and invited everyone to come to the Christmas Tree Lighting.
Mr. O’Callaghan said the date was November 30, at 6:00 p.m. for the tree lighting and he said there would be cookies and hot chocolate. He said the event was for the young and the young at heart.
Mr. Bruns asked if there was a time set for the judging in the Christmas house decorating. Mr. O’Callaghan said that they would be doing that sometime in December.
Mrs. Winemiller asked everyone to bring canned goods or non-perishable food items for FISH to the tree lighting on Sunday.
Chief Blackwell said that everything in the police department was running smoothly.
Mr. Applegate said that they would be having a meeting with the budget committee and they would have the 2009 budget documents and information on the easement for the next council meeting on December 8, 2008.
Mayor Goudy commented that Mrs. Terry had not called in and her absence from the meeting was not excused.
4. Mr. O’Callaghan moved that the council meeting be adjourned. Mr. Bruns seconded the motion. All concurred and the council meeting was adjourned.
