January 26, 2009



The City of Union council meeting was called to order by Mayor Goudy on January 26, 2009 at 7:30, p.m. on Monday.


          Attendance was taken and the following council members were present:  Mr. Bruns, Mrs. Terry, Mrs. Kyle, Mayor Goudy, Mr. O’Callaghan, and Mr. Blackwell.

Other city staff members present were John Applegate, City Manager, and Joe Moore, Law Director.


Mr. Applegate said that Mrs. Perkins had called and was out of town on business.  Mr. Bruns moved that her absence be excused.  Mayor Goudy seconded the motion.  All concurred and her absence was excused. 


Mayor Goudy asked for a moment of silence.


1.       Mayor Goudy asked if there were any corrections or additions on the minutes from the January 12, 2009 council meeting.  There were no corrections so Mr. Bruns moved that the council minutes be accepted as prepared.  Mrs. Kyle seconded the motion.  Mrs. Terry abstained and the other council members voted in favor of the motion.  The minutes were accepted as prepared.


2.       There were no comments from the citizens and visitors in the audience.


3.       Open Agenda


Mayor Goudy asked Mr. Applegate if there had been any changes in the weather forecast.  Mr. Applegate said there had been no changes and that the city crews were ready and prepared to plow snow.


Mrs. Terry said the city had done a good job with keeping the streets free of snow.  Mayor Goudy added that they always do.


Mrs. Terry commented that the city had a great fire department also.


Mr. Bruns wished Mrs. Winemiller a speedy return back to the city.


Mr. Applegate said the city was moving forward with the new water tower project.  He said the contractor was working on the piers for the tower and they hoped that would be done by the end of the week.


4.       Mayor Goudy moved that the council meeting be adjourned.  Mr. O’Callaghan seconded the motion.  All concurred and the January 26, 2009 council meeting was adjourned.
