RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS

MEETING OF COUNCIL

May 24, 2010

 

 

          

 

          The May 24, 2010 City of Union council meeting was called to order by Mayor Goudy on Monday night at 7:30.

 

          Attendance was taken and the following council members were present:  Mr. Bruns, Mrs. Oberer, Mrs. Kyle, Mayor Goudy, Mr. O’Callaghan, Mr. Blackwell, and Mrs. Perkins.

 

          Other city staff members attending the council meeting were John P. Applegate, City Manager, Denise Winemiller, Clerk of Council, and Joe Moore, Law Director.

 

          Mayor Goudy called for a moment of silence. 

 

          1.       Mayor Goudy asked if there were any corrections or additions on the council minutes from the May 10, 2010 council meeting.  There were no corrections so Mr. O’Callaghan moved that council minutes be accepted as prepared.  Mr. Bruns seconded the motion.  All concurred and the minutes were accepted as prepared.

 

          2.       Citizen’s and Visitor’s Comments

 

          There were no comments from the citizens and visitors in the audience.

 

          3.       THIRD READING – ORDINANCE 1495 - AN ORDINANCE EXPRESSING THE CITY’S INTENT TO NEGOTIATE JOINTLY WITH OTHER CITIES IN THE REGION ON ONE PRICE SCHEDULE UNDER WHICH ELECTRIC LIGHT SERVICES SHALL BE FURNISHED TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF STREET LIGHTING.

          Mr. Bruns moved to have the third and final reading and adopt Ordinance 1495.  Mrs. Oberer seconded the motion.  All concurred and Ordinance 1495 was adopted.

 

          4.       Open Agenda

 

          Mayor Goudy commented that the basketball area on West Martindale Road is looking very nice and she liked the new fence.  Mr. Applegate said they were getting ready to do the new lighting for the park. 

 

          Mayor Goudy said that in looking at Union’s parks, the one on West Martindale and the one on Phillipsburg-Union Road make quite a positive statement about the City of Union.

 

          Mr. O’Callaghan asked how the installation of the sewer line project was going.  Mr. Applegate said they were dealing with some unusual conditions that put the work crews behind but they were still making progress.

 

          5.       Mr. O’Callaghan moved that the May 24, 2010 City of Union council meeting be adjourned.  Mr. Bruns seconded the motion.  All concurred and the council meeting was adjourned.
